Publishing Your Own Calendars
In a recent article I mentioned publishing your photographs
as postcards as a good way to earn some cash. I also mentioned
that this can be a seasonal activity as it will obviously be more
profitable during the summer tourist season than in winter.
I also hinted that there was a way around this that
would allow you to continue earning outside the obvious holiday
season. |
|
Provided your images will withstand enlarging to
at least A5 size, that is approx. 8"x6", or preferably A4, approx.
8"x10", try compiling them into a calendar. The same outlets that
purchased your postcards should be interested in taking your calendars,
especially if they are recent photographs. |
 |
Other Outlets for Calendars |
Calendars give you scope to approach a wider range
of possible customers.
There are a great many hobby and pass-time clubs
and groups to whom calendars would be acceptable when postcards
may not be appropriate. For example, I mentioned producing postcards
from local classic car shows and similar summer shows. Lots of
the clubs and associations that organise these shows produce a
calendar every year to sell to their members. If you could produce
a suitable one, especially if it was priced low enough for the
club to make a usefull profit, they may well be interested.
Lots of these clubs also produce a quaterly or even
monthly news sheet that goes out to all of their members. If the
club does not want to purchase your wares, they may well be interested
in allowing you to advertise in this. It will cost you a small
amount but it will be seen by all of the members. Keep the advert
running all year; people will often buy at birthdays or Father
Day and similar times. |
